                    <history>
                        <origin> 'Nero E. i is the famous Passional from Worcester of xi<hi
                                rend="superscript">th</hi> and xii<hi rend="superscript">th</hi>
                            century date. It has, like so many other MSS. of Worcester provenance,
                            notes in the hand of John Joscelin, Archbp. Parker's secretary, and
                            considerable evidence of use by him.' </origin>
                        <provenance>'It was, therefore, in all probability in his possession and
                            passed with so many other MSS. which he had owned into the possession of
                            Sir Robert Cotton. It had clearly remained in the Worcester library from
                            the time of its first writing until it came into Joscelin's hands as
                            Worcester MSS. survived the Dissolution undispersed' (Letter of June 16,
                            1941, from E. Flower, British Museum, to L. Bieler; quoted from <ref
                                type="biblio" cRef="Bieler1942">Codices Patriciani, p. 2, n.
                            1</ref>).</provenance>
